Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

We are joining in this special day founded by: Deb Barnes of
Zee and Zoey’s Cat Chronicles, author of Purr Prints of the Heart, and founder of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.

Friends this is rather a long post. Seems I am of the age where fond reminisce is part and parcel. If you like pass on the scribble and enjoy the photos.
Purrs to you and your Angel Pets!

Angel Mr Buttons

This little ball of energy was name Hero when he came into Dads foster care in June of 2011. Dad renamed him Mr Buttons.

He was adopted in July and then returned in one week
when they found out he had FIV. I welcomed him
back and was in foster till Jan of 2012 when he was
officially adopted into our family.

He was a wonderful little fellow and was very easy going being a friend to the whole family. He really liked to play with Timmy and they would lay together in the sun. He was a real treat lover and would ask me for treats by waving at me.
He looks so handsome in his Halloween tie.

He loved his Dad and would lay with me every night
After he was about 5 he lost a lot of teeth due to
gingivitis from his FIV so his little tongue would
stick out. Cute as anything

Angel Stinker aka: Big Head

Stinker was my wife's cat who came with her after the divorce
from her first husband. They called him Stinker because he sprayed so I educated her and he was neutered never to cause
an odor again. He moved, with her, to my place and enjoyed
patrolling the property every few hours. When I was working in my shop he would wait patiently until I noticed him in the doorway and turned any equipment. He would then "check" the shop. He also insisted on entering the room where our well is if the door was closed. He would wait patiently at the door looking at me. He was quite the character.

This is a good shot of his Big Head. He was a real heavyweight at 20 pounds and fearless. If he saw any intruder on his rounds he did the same thing if it dog, deer or rabbit. He would start walking towards them, then slowly move to a cat trot, then closer he would break into a run. By then any creature would be aware, turn and bolt. He would then sit for a spell and resume patrol.

From the day we met he was his Dads cat. This is us on the porch when I was taking a break from painting something. He always insisted on climbing into my lap. Quite uncomfortable with those heavy paws as did his cat circles to get himself comfy.

Stinker was a part of Catster and belonged to Man Cats at Work.
He became ill quite suddenly and passed in my arms.
I know you are on patrol at the Bridge. Miss you big fellow.
Stinker - Big Head 01/20/91 to 07/03/06

Angels Amber and Coco

Amber and Coco were both my mothers cats that came under my sway after Mom passed. This was a badge made by our dear Catster friend Rory

Amber was an outside cat. She had lovely soft fur that would cover you with even a brush against your leg. If she got on my lap I would have to change. It was crazy how much fur came off her. She had an outsize purr that would start as soon as she saw you. She spent her last day with me in my place (I lived on the second floor. Sister on the first.) purring the whole time.
Love you sweet lady

Coco was a Sphynx. He was my mothers cat and she loved him dearly. He spent most of the time with her and after she passed he seemed lost. I wanted to move him inside with me upstairs but sister had a fit over that. He then disappeared. 6 weeks later a woman saw one of our lost cat flyers that just happened to be at a business that is across the street. She had been on vacation so did not see the flyer earlier. It seems she had found an injured Coco in the parking lot and took him to the vet. She was very gracious and did not even want to be reimbursed for the cost.
A sterling human being.

Sister said she would keep him inside after that but Dad kept seeing him outside and moved him upstairs with a firm hand. He got along wonderfully with both Timmy and Toby after they moved in and was a delightful little fellow. He would snuggle under the covers every night with me. He was like a living heating pad.

My little pal left on 07/25/09 after sleeping for a day on my bed. Amazingly both Timmy and Toby spent the entire time with him on the bed and after he passed got up and came out to let me know. Stay warm little fellow

Angel Inky, Inky Dink, Little Man

Angel Inky was a funny little boy and loved being around but never really touching. He would sleep on my bed right at arms length and if I gave him a little fuss ok but nothing more. We called him The Self Petting Cat as if you talked to him he would start rubbing on everything but would stay out of reach so you could not pet him. The only time he got a pet was when he was sleeping and you snuck up on him. I think that was because he was kept under paw by his mom Pee Girl.

Here he is doing The Inky Dance which was another thing he would do if  you talked to him. He would weave about himself where ever he was, again, keeping just out of petting reach.

He was an easy going little guy and got along with Timmy from day one. I was worried about adopting Tim as he was 21 at the time but they were great buddies and He lived another year being 22 when he left us. Keep self petting my little pal

Angel Pee Girl

Angel Pee Girl was a real heart kitty. She was adopted by my then fiancee. She came home and said they had a kitten she loved and so I went along to the SPCA to see this little bit of fluff. Pee was dragging her left rear leg and the vet there said "We will take that leg off for you." I would have none of it and took her to my vet after the adoption. The xrays showed a very bad fracture that had healed improperly and due to its age there was not a lot to be done. In time she started walking on it and had a unique gait that was endearing. When she want to move she picked it up and ran on three legs like the wind. Her name is from her meow which my better said sounded like an Easter peep. We shortened it to Pee.

Pee loved nothing like being with kitten. This the early 80s we were not up on spaying but did try to prevent her getting out and carousing with the local tom cats. She would be in heat making a racket to wake the dead and would seem to sneak out no matter. One time Dad opened the door, with the foot cat-block you all know, and she sailed by at waist height. She would come in the next day dirty and happy knowing she was with kitten. They were always easy to re-home as they were either all black or all white. Out of 5 litters she only ever had one bi-color.

Her last litter she had 3 and seemed off. I took her to the vet after 2 days and they found one with a cord problem so she was spayed. Here she is with Inky her last kitten. She would get so upset whenever they were apart we let her keep him. She babied him until the day she passed. I lost her while I was in the nursing home in 99 after the accident that took my leg. Pee I know you are waiting to lay on my hip again when we are reunited.
(Something both fiancee's hated. Heh Heh)
You took over my heart from dear Ming and will live there forever.

Angel Ming the Malevolent

Angel Ming was my first real heart cat. She was named after Buck Rogers prime foil which will be self evident when you learn a bit more of her purrsonality. My mother brought her home and within a day she had moved into my room causing quite a bit of tension in the home. (Mom was not a nice person.) Nevertheless she stayed with me and would only go out my window as she hated the family dogs. She lorded over my teenage friends who would yell "Get the Cat! Get the Cat!" if she would jump onto their laps. They knew that she was unpredictable and would take a pet, be nice, then turn and bite down to the bone with a happy hop down after.
If she did not like a girl I had over she would pee or poop in her shoe or on her clothes. I was hers and that was that!
One morning I woke to her next my pillow as was usual. I reached over and gave her a pet and she rolled over and... her eye was out of her head. WOW! To the vet who said it could have been a fight or a car strike. She most likely lost vision but it did not slow her down an iota. She was a prodigious hunter and would bring things home. Never as a present for me understand but for a quiet place to eat. Her window was 6' off the ground and one night she carried in a rabbit that was almost as big as she was. Rabbit screams are no way to wake up let me tell you. It was not long for the world so I grabbed it by the ears and put it back out with her in hot pursuit.
Ming disappeared for almost 2 years when she was about 12. Then I saw a cat in the yard and it was her. I watched and saw she was living under an old truck. One day she was sunning with her back to the house. I snuck up and scruffed her. She was like a banshee spitting and yowling. I had to hold her at arms length the whole time spinning and flipping trying to claw me. I got her up the stairs closed the door. The second, the second she was on the floor she looked around, looked up at me, and walked to where the cat dish was in the kitchen had a drink and asked for a snack which I provided. She was an insider after that.
I still think of Ming's love for me and I of her and, of course,
her Malevolent ways

Angel Teeny Tiny

Angel Teeny Tiny came with a group of kittens I agreed to foster on May 17th. They were born on about 04/08/11 and all had fat wormy belly's except Teeny. He stood out being so small and tiny so kind of named himself. I started hand feeding him and he had trouble taking much in. I had him a day and decided to run him to the vet the next day and he was cold the next morning. Fading kitten syndrome some said. I felt if I had him a few days earlier I could have saved him. He taught me to act first with fosters especially kittens. You are a reminder of all those poor kits and cats who never get a chance. You are remembered little Angel

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

We at the Tomcat home are joining in with Zee & Zoey's Cat Chronicles for:

Thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for this logo

We have our family Angels in no particular order as they each hold a special place in our hearts. We love and miss you dear Angels and know that you are waiting for our reunion in the years to come. Pee Girl, Inky, Big Head, Amber and Coco we love you!

Little Peep really loved Dad and he felt the same about her. She got her name from her tiny peeping meow and was also known as
Pee Girl. She came before our current family. She loved being a Mom and was from the time before Dad knew about the importance of spay, neuter.

She loved having kittens and would work really hard to get out
to meet her paramours no matter what Dad did. She was so
attached to Dad that she would only have her kittens with
him next to her. She would hold her kitting until he was home
and he would have to keep petting her or at least keep his hand
next to her in the kitting  box. Here she is with Inky. This
was her last litter as one got stuck and she needed emergency surgery. She kept him close until the day she left for the Bridge.
She would sleep on top of Dad every night and she is missed.

Inky was Pee Girls last kitten and she loved him to bits. She would look for him if he was not close by calling him with her tiny peep meows. He would cuddle with her like a kitten even though he was bigger than she was.

Here he is doing the Inky Dink Dance. He would do this just out of reach acting like he was getting a good fuss. Dad called Inky the Self Petting Cat. He would rub on every thing and purr like mad while Dad talked to him. He also slept with Dad but never
touching. Always just an inch or two beyond reach. Dad kept checking to see if he had a ruler stashed somewhere. MOL.
He loved water and drank tons everyday. Dad feels that is why
he lived to 22 years young. Love you little man

Say Hello to Big Head aka Stinker. Dad met him through his ex-wife. She did not believe in Neutering so he would spray in her apartment hence the name. He would also wander. After he was gone for 2 weeks and came home a bit rough she relented and Dad took him for a snip. A while after that he moved in with Dad and had a great time keeping the house safe from introoders.

Head would patrol the house making a circuit every hour or two.
He would stop in front of the garage until Dad saw him. He would stop doing any metal work and head would stroll in for a nice head rub. After that he would go into the pump room waiting for the door to be opened if it was not. He would check all the corners and then come out to check behind all the tool boxes. He would head out and give Dad a look like "All is well" and finish the yard patrol. If he saw a dog or cat in the yard he would start walking towards the introoder. Every 10 feet he would increase his speed. Walk, faster walk, fast walk, trot, fast trot, run, CHARGE. Usually by the trot the introoder would see him and watch for a few seconds until bolting. Something about his coming on would scare dogs much larger than Stinkers 22 pounds. Then again who would want to face 22 pounds of P. O'ed Cat. MOL.
He loved Dad and would climb on him to take a nap daily. Sit with him on the porch and lay next to him in bed. We know you are on patrol in the skies so watch over us dear Stinker.

Then again who would want to face 22 pounds of P. O'ed Cat. MOL. He loved Dad and would climb on him to take a nap daily. Sit with him on the porch and lay next to him in bed.
Here is his Catster Man-Cat-at-Work photo.
We know you are on patrol and working hard in the skies so please watch over us dear Stinker.

Amber was Dad's Sister's kitty. She lived outside most of the time and always looked like she was smiling. Her orange fur was really fine and soft and she would rub it all over Dad or who ever was close by.

We did not know how old Amber was as she was a rescue from the streets. She never lost her love of people and it is amazing that a cat so full of caring and love would be left behind. She had some health issues that became apparent and Dad insisted he take over her care. It made for some bad feelings but she got the care she needed and was given an extra 6 months. See you on that day we all face dear Amber.
s
Coco was Dad's Mom's kitty. Dad's sister took care of him after Mom passed and he was happy for some time. He was an inside outside kitty and one day he did not come home. We did flyers and posted at the local SPCA and veterinarians to no avail.
On the day he went missing Dad saw some signs that there was some kind of disturbance on the porch. He did not tell his sister as that would have gotten her even more upset.
Long story sort a month later sister got a call from a person who worked across the street from our home. She had been on short term leave and had found Coco on her last day. She said he was in rough shape so she took him to the vet and cared for him.
Wow how amazing was that!
After he came home sister still let him roam outside but Dad insisted on keeping him inside. Another family fracas as with Amber. Dad won out and Coco moved inside. He was a real nice guy who loved running under the covers at bedtime. We would wrestle and play and did until the day he left for the Bridge.
See you soon dear Coco, see you soon

Thanks for taking the time to visit. We love our Angels and will visit yours. While our time here may be short Love is Forever!
Now lets Hop!

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

We take today along with so many of our blogging friends to honor those of our family who have gone over the Rainbow Bridge.

Ming the Malevolent was named after the character from Flash Gordon. She was Dads first heart kitty and simply appeared at his parents home when he was 16. She did not bear fools
and would bite deeply on a whim. She caused conflict with the ladies in Dad's life always demanding to be number one.
She went missing in 81. Two years later Dad saw her in the back yard, snuck up and scruffed her. She screamed murder until he brought her inside and sat her on the floor. She looked around, looked up at Dad and said "Mrrrooowwrr" asking for a snack like she had never left. She never wanted to go outside after that and there were many happy years after. We know you are just waiting for us so you can bring us your special catches dear girl.
RB1987

Pee Girl was Dads next heart kitty. She loved siting  on Dad when he was home relaxing or laying on him while he slept. She loved having babies (before we all knew better) and was not happy without kit.

She would follow Dad around and he would have to keep his hand in the box as she delivered or she would hop after him kitten half out.

This is Inky who was from her last litter due to medical problems. She treated him like her little one till the day she passed and he felt the same. See you on that day we all return Sweet Pee Girl
RB 11/99

Big Head Stinker was Dads Finance's cat. He was not neutered until 10 years old and it took Dad saying how he would then stop spraying. He would patrol the around the property every two hours like a full time job.

If Stinker would see an introoder of any sort he would start walking towards them. He would pick up speed walk, fast walk, trot and by the time he hit run there interloper would be gone. He would then saunter back for a rub of his big head.

He sat in Dads lap every night with his eighteen pounds pressing heavily if he walked the wrong way. Dad loved that fellow.
He passed in Dads arms the day before the 4th of July, 2006

Amber was Dad's Mom and sisters cat. She lived outside and would meet Dad every time he came home to the top apartment that was built onto Moms home.

She was a happy kitty with a great smile. She loved a pet and would purr like three cats. Amber would shed like crazy and just rubbing on your leg would let loose clouds of fur. Dad took her inside and cared for her during her last months. That was a great reward RB 06/07

Coco was Dad's mothers cat. He was an outside/inside kitty of his own design. He would sneak out the back, come around the front and ask to be let back in.

After Dad's Mom passed Coco moved inside with Dad and had great fun playing with Timmy Toby and Inky. Love you buddy.
RB 7/09

Inky, Inky Dink, Inky was with Dad for 22 wonderful years. We called him the self-petting cat as he would run up close and when you reached to pet him he would rub against something like crazy right out of reach.

Inky drank water like anything but never ate much and was a lean kitty. He was around so long it we kept looking for him after he passed.

Timmy and Toby and Dad kept a vigil with Inky and he passed quietly. We love you little guy RB 12/07

Thanks for taking the time to meet our Angels. They are forever loved. They all visit us in our dreams to help us be better cats and deal with life issues. Purrs from us all!

Dad, Timmy and Family
