Happy Gotcherz Day Dear Toby

Happy Gotcha Day Deer Toby

Dad tell us about brofur Toby
Thanks Timmy. As you remember you were living with 21 year old Inky and I thought you could use a friend with the same energy.
I sure did Dad
I went to a local no-cage rescue that I support, Kitty Cottage, to just check things out. Toby was in a second floor room lounging on a cat tree. I was playing with a cat when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and saw the deepest green eyes looking back at me. He said "Meow" and I gave him a head rub and then went and looked at a few more cats. The next week I went back and again Toby made himself be known with a tap and a meow. I made an application and Toby came home 3 days later.
Thanks for all the years of fun brofur Toby.
Can I ask a question?
What Rumpy?
How come Buddy Budd can never pronounce the words correctly?
Whut? Ah saiz thinz raght!

Big Weekend Commentathon and Gotcha Day Celebration III

Welcome to the last day of our Grand Triple Header Commentathon & Got-Cha Celebration!
******
Timmy is up today a bit ahead of his Gotcha date of October 15th. We asked Dad to comment about our Top Cat and boss. How about it Dad

Thanks Toby. I guess we should start off way back in Aught Seven. Heh, heh I really like any time I can get an Aught in but I digress
I was living with my pal Inky as this was after the separation from the old ball and chain so he was my only cat. I had thought about getting him a playmate but worried as he was not very social cat and was an elder of twenty one wonderful years spend together. I was not sure what to do.
The end of September of Aught Seven, Ha, my neighbor told me about some kittens she was fostering. We had discussed rescue, foster and TNR on other occasions ever since she saw Inky in his carrier the year before so I knew she was very involved with helping cats. She said there were two little ones she was caring for and they would be a good match for my Inky. I declined with the excuses "Oh he is too old to adjust" and "What if he does not like him."

Too old at 21, really! I was spry as any 18 year old.
I am so going to drop Angel Poop on
your head Dad

She kept at me with a very soft sell. As I think back it was kind of odd she just happened to be in her front yard right when I got home from work.
After a week of coaxing I finally went in to look at the little marmalade tabby boys. They ran under the couch and under the chair as soon as we made  our entrance. She told me that they were from a feral mother who was living in an alley in a nest dug under some trash bags. She dragged one out and he hissed like crazy and ran back under the couch. I thanked her and said no thank you, they are a bit wild and went home.
The next few times we met I asked how they were doing and then came the big day. When I got home she ran in the house and when she came out said: "This is Potter. His brother was adopted last night and I hope you can take him as I need to start school out west in two weeks. If it doesn't work out I will take him back. I promise." Well this was something new. An offer to take him back if things with Inky did not work out. I looked at Potter and he looked at me and I thought I saw a little glint in his eyes. I gave in, she carried him inside and I filled out the forms she has in her back pocket. She laughed and said she was not taking no for an answer. We talked about Potter and she said she loved the Harry Potter movies which is where his name came from. We hugged and she left me and Potter sitting on the couch looking at each other. He started exploring and met Inky. They sniffed each other and... went their own ways with Potter exploring and Inky heading for a nap.

Busy Man-Cat checking things out.

That night I asked Potter if it was alright to call him... hmm... call him... Tomcat, no, how about Timmy Tomcat!

Timmy. Timmy Tomcat. That has a nice ring to it. Truthfully
anything but Potter. I was getting ready to claw that woman
if I heard "little pookie Potter" one more time. Meow.

Me and Inky got on famously
s
You did tend to be a couch hog!
I was a bit wasn't I Angel Inky

I am a chatty kitty and was always telling Dad
what to do and how to do it.

I am so glad Timmy came into my life. He was a good friend to Inky until he passed in December of that year. He has been very supportive of my odd swings of mood and has grown into a true friend that gives me much more than I can say. Thanks for asking me to talk about my true heart cat.
Aww Dad... Sniff... We better start the party before I get all teary eyed. Toby take it away
You bet Timmy. This is the last day of our three day Commentathon. We are going to tally the comments from Friday, Saturday and today and give a half a green paper per comment up to one hundred green papers to a great rescue that is close to my heart:

This cage free adoption center is where I furst met Dad and I want to help them all I can. They have some fun events listed this month for anyone in the Philadelphia burbs so take a look.

Big Weekend Commentathon and Gotcha Day Celebration II

Welcome to day two of our Grand Triple Header Commentathon & Got-Cha Celebration!
******
Today we celebrate that wild little scamp who evfurry one loves, Einstein. Tomorrow we will pawty with Top Cat Timmy! Mr Buttons will be you host so take it away Mr B!

Alrighty rooney Toby. Gather around evfurry kitty and hear the true story of a kitty who was brought back from the sharp edge of the abyss with around the clock medical care and lots of love. Those or you who know his story can go get some adult cat refreshments, but, it is a good story.

On October 8 last year Dad was at work in his office, which is in the part of our house where his sister and her doggies live, when a call came in. It was about eleven and it was someone he worked with. She said there was a kitten on her porch sick. Dad asked what happened and she said she had been feeding a few community ferals but had to stop due to a new landlord and nasty neighbors.
After she stopped a pregnant Queen started coming to her porch meowing to be fed. She put food on the porch and after a bit of time the Queen disappeared. A couple days later she came back and it was clear she had kitted.
His friend had looked but could not find the litter so had been keeping watch. This morning the mother brought three kittens to the porch so they could eat. She left one behind and he looked sick.
Dad asked what was going on with the kitten. His friend said he was not moving.
Dad asked "Is he stiff and cold?"
"Cold but not stiff."
"Is he alive?"
"I don't know. What should I do?"
"If you want you can bring him here. Wrap him in a towel and put him where it is warm in the car or as warm as possible."
"Thank you thank you I will be right there!"
Dad thought it was most likely dead but his friend was distraught so he figured he would give her some solace.
When she arrived Dad says the kitten was cold but alive. Dad could not leave his office so asked his friend to get a moist towel, put it in a trash bag and then pop it in the microwave. He sent his sister to get a heating pad.
While they were doing that he had the kitten in his shirt and kept rubbing him. Dads friend brought the towel pack and it was nice and warm. Dad checked it on his wrist to make sure it was not too hot and then wrapped the kitten up in it. It was that time so he put the work computer on standby and his IM to 'At Lunch'
Dad came up the stair to our part of the house and we were curious what was going on. He made some formula and by the time he had to go back to work the kitten was awake and wobbling on his tiny feet. He was very dirty and a bit stinky but alive. They took the him down to the office in a carrier with a flip top and the heating pad in it. Dads friend thanked him and left.
By the time work was over and Dad came up to feed us dinner the little fellow was eating a bit of formula. We were curious but not overly so and mainly watched Dad continue to feed the little fellow every hour or so. He said he was worried about kitten fading syndrome. Sometimes with a shock, and sometimes without a kitten can fade and go over the Bridge. Dad is a Nursey Man so knows his stuff and put it all to use taking care of this poor little scrap.

Here is the furst photo of kitten after he came out
of his coma. He needed a baff really bad.

After his baff he looked better and Dad kept him in the carrier overnight and he took him to work the next day and the Vet that night. We thought he was all better and Dad told us he would be going into foster in a few weeks. We were wrong.
After coming back from near death he started fading. Back to the vet and they said if he made it two weeks he would most likely be alright but not go get our hopes up. Dad knew it was up to him and watched him and kept stimulating him every hour.He would not let him sink too deep and so leave us.
By Friday he also had a bad case of diarrhea. Another trip to the vet for medicine to help with this new problem. Every time he ate it would go through him. He hated it but Dad bathed him a dozen times a day and kept him as clean as possible. His little  bum was sore and he would cry. We all felt so sad for the little guy.
After a week it was a little better. After another week he made a real solid poop. Dad was doing the happy dance over that poop and so were we. Every day he got a little better.

Here he is feeling better and all cleaned up. He loved
the wet food dad gave him.

Befur long he was up and playing...
s
playing...

and more playing

He met Rumpy and they were buddies right from
the start and still are best pals

Rumpy was like a mother hen. Here he is making sure
his crate will be comfortable. After 2 weeks of around the clock
care Dad sure needed a break

There is more to the story. There always is. While caring for kitten Dad's friend captured his brofurs. They were two marmalades and were huge compared to kitten. She told Dad that before he got sick they would not let him eat any of the food she put out as he was the runt of the litter. They were a bit hissy but very cute. Dad only had them for a week before they went to an event and got adopted right away. We were happy about that.
By now Dad had decided that he was going to keep kitten but had no idea what to call him.
Dad sent this photo to a friend at work and said he had decided
to keep him but did not know what to name him. She
replied right away, Einstein. How purrfect!
s
That night Dad told Einstein his new name. Rumpy was
excited as you can see. MOL

So there is a great story of a great cat. Our littlest Man-Cat has since become a great family member joining in all the fun we have. He has become a Cat Scout and is the Bugle Master for Wally's Warriors.
We are really glad the fates brought him to our family and now lets all keep the party going. If you weren't here yesterday for Rumpy's Got-Cha party you can see it here.

This pawty is a part of a three day Commentathon. We are going to tally the comments today, yesterday and Sunday and give a half a green paper per comment up to one hundred green papers to a great rescue that we love:

Big Weekend Commentathon and Gotcha Day Celebration I

Welcome to day one of our Grand Triple Header Commentathon & Got-Cha Celebration!
******
Today we celebrate Rumpy Bump Stumpnots, tomorrow Einstein and on Sunday we will pawty with Top Cat Timmy! Take it away Miss Fitz.
Thanks Toby. We do hope you enjoy our family history so Let's all get to know our furst celebrant:
 Rumpy Bump Stumpnots
The story as I hear it is that Dad was puttering on the good old internets as Dads tend to do. He had been thinking of getting another Sphynx. Our Angel Coco had gone over the Rainbow Bridge after having a good life here, first with Dads Mom and then with Dad after Mom passed.
Dad wanted to work with a rescue rather than a breeder so was browsing various purebred cat rescue sites. As he browsed and saw all those cats that needed homes he went from casual looking to seriously wanting to help a cat in need. Dad saw two handsome brothers and decided to get some more information on them.
Corkie and his brother were two American Bobtail kittens. They who were dropped at the shelter as they did not fit the breed standard due to being, well, rumpies.
Bobtails should have a tail that is about one third to one half the length of a normal tail. These cats may also have health problems due to the accompanying shortened spine. Dad emailed the foster pawent and she said Corkie was fine, but, he had an adoptoin application already and his brother had also gotten his forever home. Dad was happy that they both had homes and figured it was meant to be. Well it was but not how he thought.
A few days later he got an email. Corkie was available! Now came the logistics as he was in West Virginia. His foster pawrent suggested a transport company and Dad made the arrangements while she made sure he got his vet check and immunizations which are needed for interstate transport. All done but the waiting.

Here he is coming home on Oct. 18th 2010. Dad got up at 430AM and drove 50 miles to get him off the transport. He was the
only cat and rode here in a big truck separated from the 20 dogs who also made the trip. Dad said the truck driver was really nice

and said he took good care of Corkie on the ride up.

After he arrived he went to the foster room. Here he is having
his very first meal. Dad says that was gone in 5 minutes.
He still has a very good appetite. MOL

He was curious and asked foster Phantom what he had
gotten himself into. He was told how lucky he was
as those fosters were having a grand time.

Look at those big paws. He has really grown
into them.

He really loved Dad right from the start. Just look at that
face. He was making biscuits like crazy and still does.

Rumpy says he knew he was in the right home when Dad gave him his new cool name. Dad said "No more Corkie. From now on you will be known as Rumpy Bump Stumpnots." Rumpy ran around the room meowing when he heard that. He says everyone at our Vets office love his name and make a big fuss whenever he goes to visit.
We love you Rumpy. You are our big white whale without a tail!

Thanks Miss Fitz!
We do love our big buddy. Most of the time. MOL.
Now lets get to the best part of this event, helping others with our Commentathon. We are going to tally the comments today, Saturday and Sunday and give a half a green paper per comment up to one hundred to a great rescue that is close to my heart:

Kitty Cottage

This cage free adoption center is where I furst met Dad. I tagged him from my favorite cat tree and when I saw him again I knew I picked the right guy. They have some fun events listed for anyone in the Philadelphia burbs so take a look.

Now on with the PAWTY! This is a three day affair with adult beverages so please spend weekend. Dad says he will stay in his room most of the time and you are free to lay on the bed as long as he has a bit of room. MOL!

We have more cake so eat all you want

Tuna Cakes are the BEST

Extra Bacon for Timmy' Cat Scout pals

Buddy brews this in the garage. It's Great!

We have some craft beer too

Nip, of course, plenty more so dig in
