Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

We are joining in this special day founded by: Deb Barnes of
Zee and Zoey’s Cat Chronicles, author of Purr Prints of the Heart, and founder of Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day.

Friends this is rather a long post. Seems I am of the age where fond reminisce is part and parcel. If you like pass on the scribble and enjoy the photos.
Purrs to you and your Angel Pets!

Angel Mr Buttons

This little ball of energy was name Hero when he came into Dads foster care in June of 2011. Dad renamed him Mr Buttons.

He was adopted in July and then returned in one week
when they found out he had FIV. I welcomed him
back and was in foster till Jan of 2012 when he was
officially adopted into our family.

He was a wonderful little fellow and was very easy going being a friend to the whole family. He really liked to play with Timmy and they would lay together in the sun. He was a real treat lover and would ask me for treats by waving at me.
He looks so handsome in his Halloween tie.

He loved his Dad and would lay with me every night
After he was about 5 he lost a lot of teeth due to
gingivitis from his FIV so his little tongue would
stick out. Cute as anything

Angel Stinker aka: Big Head

Stinker was my wife's cat who came with her after the divorce
from her first husband. They called him Stinker because he sprayed so I educated her and he was neutered never to cause
an odor again. He moved, with her, to my place and enjoyed
patrolling the property every few hours. When I was working in my shop he would wait patiently until I noticed him in the doorway and turned any equipment. He would then "check" the shop. He also insisted on entering the room where our well is if the door was closed. He would wait patiently at the door looking at me. He was quite the character.

This is a good shot of his Big Head. He was a real heavyweight at 20 pounds and fearless. If he saw any intruder on his rounds he did the same thing if it dog, deer or rabbit. He would start walking towards them, then slowly move to a cat trot, then closer he would break into a run. By then any creature would be aware, turn and bolt. He would then sit for a spell and resume patrol.

From the day we met he was his Dads cat. This is us on the porch when I was taking a break from painting something. He always insisted on climbing into my lap. Quite uncomfortable with those heavy paws as did his cat circles to get himself comfy.

Stinker was a part of Catster and belonged to Man Cats at Work.
He became ill quite suddenly and passed in my arms.
I know you are on patrol at the Bridge. Miss you big fellow.
Stinker - Big Head 01/20/91 to 07/03/06

Angels Amber and Coco

Amber and Coco were both my mothers cats that came under my sway after Mom passed. This was a badge made by our dear Catster friend Rory

Amber was an outside cat. She had lovely soft fur that would cover you with even a brush against your leg. If she got on my lap I would have to change. It was crazy how much fur came off her. She had an outsize purr that would start as soon as she saw you. She spent her last day with me in my place (I lived on the second floor. Sister on the first.) purring the whole time.
Love you sweet lady

Coco was a Sphynx. He was my mothers cat and she loved him dearly. He spent most of the time with her and after she passed he seemed lost. I wanted to move him inside with me upstairs but sister had a fit over that. He then disappeared. 6 weeks later a woman saw one of our lost cat flyers that just happened to be at a business that is across the street. She had been on vacation so did not see the flyer earlier. It seems she had found an injured Coco in the parking lot and took him to the vet. She was very gracious and did not even want to be reimbursed for the cost.
A sterling human being.

Sister said she would keep him inside after that but Dad kept seeing him outside and moved him upstairs with a firm hand. He got along wonderfully with both Timmy and Toby after they moved in and was a delightful little fellow. He would snuggle under the covers every night with me. He was like a living heating pad.

My little pal left on 07/25/09 after sleeping for a day on my bed. Amazingly both Timmy and Toby spent the entire time with him on the bed and after he passed got up and came out to let me know. Stay warm little fellow

Angel Inky, Inky Dink, Little Man

Angel Inky was a funny little boy and loved being around but never really touching. He would sleep on my bed right at arms length and if I gave him a little fuss ok but nothing more. We called him The Self Petting Cat as if you talked to him he would start rubbing on everything but would stay out of reach so you could not pet him. The only time he got a pet was when he was sleeping and you snuck up on him. I think that was because he was kept under paw by his mom Pee Girl.

Here he is doing The Inky Dance which was another thing he would do if  you talked to him. He would weave about himself where ever he was, again, keeping just out of petting reach.

He was an easy going little guy and got along with Timmy from day one. I was worried about adopting Tim as he was 21 at the time but they were great buddies and He lived another year being 22 when he left us. Keep self petting my little pal

Angel Pee Girl

Angel Pee Girl was a real heart kitty. She was adopted by my then fiancee. She came home and said they had a kitten she loved and so I went along to the SPCA to see this little bit of fluff. Pee was dragging her left rear leg and the vet there said "We will take that leg off for you." I would have none of it and took her to my vet after the adoption. The xrays showed a very bad fracture that had healed improperly and due to its age there was not a lot to be done. In time she started walking on it and had a unique gait that was endearing. When she want to move she picked it up and ran on three legs like the wind. Her name is from her meow which my better said sounded like an Easter peep. We shortened it to Pee.

Pee loved nothing like being with kitten. This the early 80s we were not up on spaying but did try to prevent her getting out and carousing with the local tom cats. She would be in heat making a racket to wake the dead and would seem to sneak out no matter. One time Dad opened the door, with the foot cat-block you all know, and she sailed by at waist height. She would come in the next day dirty and happy knowing she was with kitten. They were always easy to re-home as they were either all black or all white. Out of 5 litters she only ever had one bi-color.

Her last litter she had 3 and seemed off. I took her to the vet after 2 days and they found one with a cord problem so she was spayed. Here she is with Inky her last kitten. She would get so upset whenever they were apart we let her keep him. She babied him until the day she passed. I lost her while I was in the nursing home in 99 after the accident that took my leg. Pee I know you are waiting to lay on my hip again when we are reunited.
(Something both fiancee's hated. Heh Heh)
You took over my heart from dear Ming and will live there forever.

Angel Ming the Malevolent

Angel Ming was my first real heart cat. She was named after Buck Rogers prime foil which will be self evident when you learn a bit more of her purrsonality. My mother brought her home and within a day she had moved into my room causing quite a bit of tension in the home. (Mom was not a nice person.) Nevertheless she stayed with me and would only go out my window as she hated the family dogs. She lorded over my teenage friends who would yell "Get the Cat! Get the Cat!" if she would jump onto their laps. They knew that she was unpredictable and would take a pet, be nice, then turn and bite down to the bone with a happy hop down after.
If she did not like a girl I had over she would pee or poop in her shoe or on her clothes. I was hers and that was that!
One morning I woke to her next my pillow as was usual. I reached over and gave her a pet and she rolled over and... her eye was out of her head. WOW! To the vet who said it could have been a fight or a car strike. She most likely lost vision but it did not slow her down an iota. She was a prodigious hunter and would bring things home. Never as a present for me understand but for a quiet place to eat. Her window was 6' off the ground and one night she carried in a rabbit that was almost as big as she was. Rabbit screams are no way to wake up let me tell you. It was not long for the world so I grabbed it by the ears and put it back out with her in hot pursuit.
Ming disappeared for almost 2 years when she was about 12. Then I saw a cat in the yard and it was her. I watched and saw she was living under an old truck. One day she was sunning with her back to the house. I snuck up and scruffed her. She was like a banshee spitting and yowling. I had to hold her at arms length the whole time spinning and flipping trying to claw me. I got her up the stairs closed the door. The second, the second she was on the floor she looked around, looked up at me, and walked to where the cat dish was in the kitchen had a drink and asked for a snack which I provided. She was an insider after that.
I still think of Ming's love for me and I of her and, of course,
her Malevolent ways

Angel Teeny Tiny

Angel Teeny Tiny came with a group of kittens I agreed to foster on May 17th. They were born on about 04/08/11 and all had fat wormy belly's except Teeny. He stood out being so small and tiny so kind of named himself. I started hand feeding him and he had trouble taking much in. I had him a day and decided to run him to the vet the next day and he was cold the next morning. Fading kitten syndrome some said. I felt if I had him a few days earlier I could have saved him. He taught me to act first with fosters especially kittens. You are a reminder of all those poor kits and cats who never get a chance. You are remembered little Angel
