ReplyDeleteyes, I have always adopted but I admit I have also looked at their personalities and how we connected to each other at the shelter. I never though that their true personalities weren’t shining through because they may have been depressed at the shelter environment and being in a cage. More work needs to be done to keep these kitties personalities shining so the will get adopted sooner. Before they get so depressed. Or maybe enrichment activities to keep them positive.
ReplyDeleteMy sister in law walks dogs at our local shelter which helps keep them social. One day I asked to visit a cat at our Humane Society and they told me no - he was already adopted. Why would they not let me just visit him? It seems to me it would help him be more friendly and less lonely and more in touch with people. Any human contact should be good for these cats, right? I admit I needed a little cat therapy of my own but I wasn’t going to steal him or hurt him. What a messed up system they have. You would think it would be good for the cats morale even if he was going to a new home the next day.
Well, we have a newbie here...but not a kitty,a pup, from Texas...a hurricane rescue pup.
ReplyDeleteThat kitten in your graphic is like a wee Pipo from his kitten days:)
