Hello dere mah furens. Ah back frum dat ol'vet and ah feeling betteh fur-sure. Ah let mah Dad tell ya.
First I want to acknowledge all the support we have received. This is an amazing community that gives freely to those need. We are proud to be a part of it, again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Update: Buddy's ultrasound showed that his pancreas is swollen and nodular when it should be smooth. It is mostly very dark but has lighter areas. He has thickening of the mesentery (connective tissue,) around his intestine and swollen lymph nodes. The vet was not positive but thinks cancer.
The next step would have been to get a biopsy. This would be a major surgery as there is so much involvement. If during the exploratory they found cancer it would be difficult to remove.
We have decided on conservative treatment. Buddy is very, very difficult to medicate. If he will not eat one of my treat coated pills there will be blood, lots of it, mine. He was given Covenia a long acting antibiotic and a long acting steroid Depo-Mederol.
Hey Dad'z yoo sayed e-nuff ok. Whew dat man-human can gab.
So ya got da medical stuffs. Main ting is dat ah feeling gud, gud, gud. Ah eatin lotz more den ah have bin an ah enjoyin life. Dat most impawtent.

So sorry to hear about your health ... no one likes pills. In fact, a furiend who is also being given pills had her staff threaten to design a straight jacket for cats.
ReplyDeleteWe hope you will feel better and better with each passing day Buddy and that it isn't the dreaded C word! We know how difficult this on your Dad too so we are sending him lots of support and encouragement!

ReplyDeleteAwww, Buddy, we are SO SORRY to hear that you may have cancer. :( We understand your dad's decision to not do the biopsy. The Mom decided not to do one on Carmine, either. In his case, they wanted to do one to confirm the pancreatitis, but like your dad said, the surgery is major, and the Mom didn't want to put Carmine through that since they were pretty positive he has pancreatitis (and the treatment is working!). Please hang in there, dear one, and please let the Mom know if we can do anything to help, okay? Sending lots of purrs, prayers, hugs, and love. <3

ReplyDeleteLove you lots my dear Buddy Budd and Neytiri and I have been purring lots for you and we are continuing to send prayers and good healing thoughts in your direction.
ReplyDeleteIf we can help in any way, you shout OK? Tell your Dad his decision not to do the surgery is a good one, especially iffen you would come out of it worser than you went in. These things are stressful for you and your Dad, we WISH we could be there for more support, but, know you have our LOVE and our HOPES for good things for you.

I hate cancer. I really do. I'm sorry to hear that this isn't a condition that can be treated without making kitty's quality of life so much worse. You've made a very difficult decision, and I'm proud of you for it. I hope if something similar every happens to my cats, I'll be brave enough to do the same.
